Italy is not only a country of timeless beauty — it’s also a strategic entry point into the European Union for global investors, entrepreneurs, and changemakers. For non-EU citizens who are ready to back meaningful ventures, the Investor Visa for Italy offers a streamlined path to residency in exchange for impactful investments.
More than just a visa, it’s a bridge — connecting international capital with Italian innovation and opportunity.
The Investor Visa, launched through Italy’s 2017 Budget Law, allows non-EU individuals to obtain residency by investing in sectors that directly contribute to the country’s economic and social progress.
The process is centralized, digitized, and fast-tracked — a rare combination when it comes to European immigration.
Eligible applicants include non-EU adults or legal representatives of foreign companies who are willing to make one of the following investments:
€2 million in Italian government bonds
€500,000 in Italian companies, including innovative startups
€1 million donation to support philanthropic initiatives in areas like education, research, culture, or immigration
All investments must be completed within three months of arrival and maintained for the duration of residency.
Submit your application online via the official portal. Required documents include:
Passport and CV
Proof of legal, transferable funds
Declaration of investment or donation commitment
Within 30 days, the committee will:
Approve the application and issue the Nulla Osta
Request additional documents (with 30 days to submit)
Reject the application (in case of non-compliance)
With the Nulla Osta in hand, apply for your visa at the Italian Consulate in your country.
Upon arrival in Italy, apply for a residence permit at the local Police Headquarters (Questura) within eight days.
Initial permit: Valid for 2 years
Renewable: For 3 additional years upon confirmation that the investment is still active
Renewals are managed via the same online platform
Digital-first bureaucracy: No long lines or scattered paperwork — the entire process is centralized
Fast-track processing: 30-day turnaround for most applications
Tax optimization: Access to Italy’s favorable tax regime for new residents (Article 24-bis of the TUIR)
Access to opportunity: Residency unlocks access to the EU market and local incentives
